1. Seek professional help

The first thing I did was seek out professional help. Especially if your struggling to cope with the aftermath of emotional abuse, it’s important to seek professional help. A therapist can provide you with support and guidance as you work through your emotions. They can also help you to develop healthy coping mechanisms for dealing with difficult emotions.

2. Get involved in activities that make you feel good

One of the best ways to stop feeling numb after emotional abuse is to get involved in activities that make you feel good. This could include things like exercise (even a short walk), playing with your kids and listening to their laughter, or spending time with friends and family. Doing things that make you happy will help you to start rebuilding your life after the experience of emotional abuse.

3. Take care of yourself

It’s crucial that you take care of yourself both physically and emotionally. This means eating a healthy diet, getting regular exercise, and getting enough sleep. It also means taking time for yourself to do things that make you happy. When you’re taking care of yourself, you’re sending a message that you deserve to be happy and healthy. I believe you deserve to be happy & healthy!!!

4. Join a support group.

There are many support groups available for people who have experienced emotional abuse. These groups can provide you with invaluable support and advice from others who have been in your shoes. You can join my community: Healing from Emotional Abuse for Heart-Centered, Confident, Single Moms. I share my experiences and what has helped me.

5. Reach out to friends and family

Another way to stop feeling numb after emotional abuse is to reach out to your friends and family. These people can provide you with a support system as you heal from the experience (because friends and family have not experienced this type of trauma, they may not understand). They can offer practical assistance, such as help with childcare or household tasks.

6. Practice positive self-talk

Practicing positive self-talk is an important part of healing after emotional abuse. This can involve repeating affirmations to yourself, and speaking kindly about yourself. It’s important to remind yourself that you are strong, capable, and worthy of love. I have a PDF in the gides section in the community that you can print out and read daily.

Saying positive statements like “I like myself” or I am good just the way I am.” can help you to start seeing yourself in a more positive light. This can be especially powerful after experiencing emotional abuse, as it helps to combat the negative thoughts and messages that were instilled in you by your abuser. Regularly repeating positive statements is an important part of the healing process.

7. Focus on self-love

Finally, focusing on self-love can help you to start feeling more positive after emotional abuse. Self-love involves paying attention to your needs, learning to accept yourself as you are, and showing compassion for yourself. It may take time and practice, but ultimately self-love can be an effective way to counter the negative messages of your abuser.

If you are feeling really anxious, one tool that works really well for me is the WAVwatch. My favorite settings are Calming, Anxiety, Migraine (this works really well for a tension headache. There are 850 different setting to choose from including depression, trauma & Unhappy, withdrawn. I tried it because it had a 30 day money back guarantee. Use Code Renee100 to get $100 off.
