Have you ever had a difficult time trying to release your emotions by crying? As I was building my business to help women heal from emotional abuse, I knew I needed to heal from the past emotional pain I experienced. There were times where I would cry getting on camera so I had to figure out a way to release these feelings before I got on camera. I have never been able to cry on demand or whenever I wanted to. I have always had a hard time trying to cry. However, I did know that when I cried it felt so good. The emotional release was like hitting a reset button and I would feel like I emptied out all the emotions and I felt a little lighter.

Why Couldn’t I cry?

Sometimes crying felt like an impossible task. I felt like I needed to be strong and show myself that I wasn’t weak. I will admit there were times in my life where I couldn’t feel my feelings. I honestly felt relieved to not feeling them as a way to protect myself from further pain. Therefore, making it more difficult for me to cry when I was overwhelmed. At times I felt like there was no reason for me to cry and then I would suppress the feelings and the tears and hold them back. In addition, I would push these feelings away by avoiding them altogether. Lastly, I never wanted anyone to know my innermost feelings of being sad. If they knew I was fearful they could hurt me.

Releasing Emotions

There I was listening to a friend who was Live on Facebook about how they couldn’t cry about an event that just happened. They went on to explain how they released their emotions with this on specific essential oil “Release”. I was intrigued, so I ordered it and gave it a try. She did tell me to plan on staying at home, because your emotions could come flowing out at any point, but just for one day. It was a little tip so that I didn’t plan some big outing!

Did the Essential Oil Work?

I ordered the oil and gave it a whirl. I am a busy mom with a child in hockey so I picked a quiet evening around 6 pm to give the oil a try. Nothing happened that evening. The next day, was quite the opposite for me. I cried at the drop of a hat. It felt so good to cry! I was finally releasing my emotions and I felt like a huge weight was lifted! I honestly felt a little lighter and my spirits were lifted. I did have to attend a hockey game that evening, but I will admit it was a good distraction. If you are looking for a natural way to release your feelings and don’t have time for a movie, this may be a good option.

There’s a Book!

Then, I started reading the Aroma Freedom Technique book. Oh, how I love essential oils, especially since I am so sensitive to smells, medications, caffeine, ect. Essential oils have been around for 100’s of years and were used for emotional healing. Very little essential oil is needed to affect a change in our body or mind according to the author, Dr. Benjamin Perkus. He goes on to say that your emotions are telling you to solve a problem. Isn’t that great? In addition, we become unbalanced when the feelings stay with us after a negative event and we are still holding onto what has happened. So, if we have unresolved emotions from toxic relationships, we are hanging out in life unbalanced. We need to balance our emotions and the coolest part is that we can do that with therapeutic grade essential oils. These oils have been a huge part of my healing journey as I release emotions that come up during the sessions of my self-healing process.
