With rising energy costs and inflation, I am looking for ways to save money in any way possible.
Let’s look at how we can save money on water. For most people, the monthly bill from the utility company is becoming a large expense. Fortunately, there are ways to cut down on this cost without making any major changes or sacrifices. Here are ways you can start saving money the water portion of your utility bill each month.
- Turn off the faucet when you are brushing your teeth or shaving. A running faucet can waste up to 5 gallons of water per minute!
- Take shorter showers. Try to keep your showers under 5 minutes long.
- Install a low-flow shower head. This can help you save up to 750 gallons of water per month!
- Only run the dishwasher or washing machine when they are full. This can save you a lot of water and money over time.
- Fix any leaks in your plumbing system as soon as possible. A single leaky faucet can waste up to 100 gallons of water per day!
- Purchase slow flow aerators for your kitchen & bathroom faucets.
Another way to save money on water is to buy appliances that are energy efficient. This way, you will use less water and save on your energy bill as well. Some energy efficient appliances to consider include dishwashers, washing machines, and toilets.
