The Long Term effects From Emotional Abuse

Being a professional single mom is very rewarding and at the same time exhausting especially if you are recovering from the long-term effects of emotional abuse. These affects can feel overwhelming and bring a dark cloud into your life. I am here to spread some sunshine and let you know healing is possible. Here are a few affects I have experienced and have recovered from to bring you hope for a brighter future. I never thought the life I live now would ever be a possibility!

  1. Depression – I experienced depression where I could barely get off the couch. In addition, I had a very difficult time doing the housework, cooking meals, working and caring for 2 small children. What helped me through was getting on medication.
  2. Anxiety – I have experienced anxiety off and on throughout my life. Understanding the root cause can go a long way in healing anxious feelings, heart palpatations & a racing heart. To alleviate these symptoms quickly, I took medication.
  3. Low self-worth – This is when you feel like you just don’t know why you are here anymore or maybe you are saying, I feel lost. I experienced this as a direct result from emotional abuse.
  4. C-PTSD – Get this, Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is when you have multiple terrifying events and struggle to recover long after they have experienced it. This isn’t something that only happens to people who are in combat. I experienced it by being threatened. I don’t want to go into details because it’s important for me to not retraumatize you. You may have flashbacks when you are triggered by a feeling from a past event.
  5. High Alert – I also have an increased sensitivity to my surroundings and have experienced the high startle response. Through self-healing, I have been able to relieve many the heightened response.

One last thing…

I want you to know healing is possible. I totally understand the impact of emotional abuse on your physical, mental and emotional health. Get the full list of long term effects of emotional abuse here. That’s why I am here to help you understand the long term affects so you can start to heal. If you are thinking healing isn’t possible for you, I thought that too, but I am living proof it is possible. As a matter of fact, I was able to buy a house as a single mom. You just need some support, determination and a few tools to help you along the way. One of my favorites first steps is the 11 Day Jumpstart. The Jumpstart addresses chronic stress and is also a great way to lose weight. I have found tremendous success and healing in this program.
