Being a single mom can be challenging. When we add the lasting effects of emotional abuse it’s very difficult for us to be energetic, creative, compassionate, courageous and have a clear mind. These personality traits are unable to come up because of the emotional wounds that we have avoided and stuffed down inside us. It’s quite possible we were or are in survival mode and unable to deal with them. Negative words and body language deeply affect our emotional well-being, self-respect and confidence, that may or may not lead to a sense of worthlessness and hopelessness.
I do love natural solutions because I am a highly sensitive person to smells, caffeine, sugar and medication. Thankfully, I have found aromatherapy to be an awesome way to boost my mood and promote feelings of positivity by using essential oils. Essential oils have been used for centuries to enhance physical and emotional well-being. Let’s have some fun and explore some essential oils that can lift your mood, improve your overall outlook on life, and help you manage the feelings you have right now.
Peppermint oil is known for its cooling and refreshing properties that can lift your mood and increase mental clarity. I love using peppermint oil in the shower! I turn the water on, add one drop of peppermint oil to the back of the bathtub and enjoy the aroma while I am showering. It smells amazing! Another way to use it, is to add a couple drops of oil to a diffuser and enjoy the smell in the room. Here is a low-cost diffuser. If you have acid in your tummy from all the emotions going on inside of you try Peppermint Vitality. You can consume this one. I insert a toothpick into the bottle and swish it around in a glass of water and drink it to get rid of a stomachache. I like to get the oil on the toothpick two times. One drop in the water is way to strong!!! I have also given this to my 10 year old son who enjoyed the peppermint water and his tummy ache went away quickly.
Lemon oil is another essential oil that can uplift your mood and promote feelings of positivity. Lemon oil has a fresh and citrusy scent that can promote mental clarity and boost energy levels. To use lemon oil, you can diffuse it with a diffuser or add a few drops to your bathwater. I like to mix my favorite essential oils with unscented Epsom salts and then add it to my water. Do whatever you enjoy the most.
You can also ingest the lemon vitality essential oil. There is nothing I enjoy more than a cup of hot honey and lemon water during the winter months. Likewise in the summer, I enjoy adding one drop of lemon to my water. It’s so refreshing and mood boosting! Only consume essential oils that are therapeutic and approved to ingest!
