If you’re tired of feeling stuck in the cycle of re-traumatization, this blog post is your guiding light towards illuminating your healing journey and, a more empowered future.

What is it like to be Re-traumatized?

Hey there heart-centered friends! I am so excited to share with you how to heal from emotional or narcissistic abuse without being re-traumatized. Have you ever been re-traumatized? You may have been. Have you ever read through someone’s story of emotional or narcissistic abuse and it brought back feelings you experienced while reading their story? These feelings may can affect you emotionally or physically. I certainly have through other’s stories and through my personal experience with a therapist.

My Story

There I was sitting in the therapist’s office doing the session I pre-planned. I had so much determination to heal from the long-lasting side-effects from enduring emotional abuse. As I left the office and was driving down the street to go home, I noticed my body shaking, like I had just been through something quite traumatic. I was also very cold. I felt so vulnerable. When I got home, I snuggled up in my cozy, weighted pink blanket to warm up and comfort myself. I laid there for a couple hours not wanting to do anything. Almost like when I experienced depression. I was super tired and my body felt really heavy. I later learned that I was re-traumatized during the session. It certainly makes it difficult for me to want to return to therapy.

I was frustrated to say the least! I just wanted all the symptoms of anxious feelings, jumpiness, and high alert to go away. I felt like I had dealt with enough in my life and I wanted to open a new chapter in my life.

The Transformation

Then I met a business colleague who taught me how to self-heal and gain confidence. This has been so transformational for me. I am able to get on camera with confidence without crying when I talk about emotional abuse. In addition, I have also gained natural boundaries. That’s right, no more having to memorize what I have to say to create a boundary that’s healthy for me. This proven self-healing process is a fantastic way to recover from the long-term effects of emotional abuse and not be re-traumatized in the process. Now, when I have feelings that come up, I can acknowledge them right away and deal with them so they are not stuffed away creating anxious or nervous feelings. Which now saves me money on therapy and I am so much more relaxed and confident. I love the way this feels!
